The BMW X5 enters a bold new chapter with the arrival of its all-new fifth generation, combining striking design, cutting-edge technology and the widest choice of powertrains ever offered in a single BMW model.
Building on more than 25 years of success, the latest X5 is the first BMW to support five different drive systems across its global lineup, including petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid, battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell technology. Developed on the innovative Neue Klasse platform, the new X5 represents BMW's vision for the future of premium mobility.
Leading the electrified range is the all-new BMW iX5, making the X5 available as a fully electric model for the first time. Powered by BMW's sixth-generation eDrive technology and next-generation cylindrical battery cells, it delivers up to 525 miles (WLTP) of driving range and ultra-fast DC charging of up to 460 kW, setting a new benchmark in the luxury SUV segment.
BMW is also preparing the launch of the iX5 Hydrogen, its first production hydrogen-powered vehicle. Combining the brand's latest fuel cell technology with an advanced high-voltage battery and innovative hydrogen storage system, the iX5 Hydrogen offers a driving range of up to 466 miles while delivering zero local emissions and rapid refuelling.
The exterior has been completely redesigned, introducing a cleaner, more muscular appearance inspired by the Neue Klasse design language. A bold illuminated kidney grille, new "double-X" daytime running lights, sculpted bodywork and full-width rear lighting create a commanding road presence while improving aerodynamic efficiency.
Inside, the cabin embraces a minimalist, technology-focused design centred around the driver. Premium materials, including slate trim used for the first time by an automotive manufacturer, combine with BMW Panoramic iDrive, a new wraparound digital cockpit and an optional passenger display to create a truly modern luxury experience.
Performance remains at the heart of the X5. Customers can choose from highly efficient diesel, plug-in hybrid and fully electric powertrains, with the flagship X5 M60e xDrive producing an impressive 612 hp and accelerating from 0–62 mph in just 4.5 seconds. Every model benefits from adaptive suspension, advanced chassis technology and BMW's latest driver assistance systems, delivering the perfect balance of comfort, agility and everyday usability.
Produced at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg in the United States, the fifth-generation X5 will arrive in the UK in spring 2027. With its blend of innovative technology, premium craftsmanship and multiple electrified powertrain options, the new BMW X5 is set to redefine expectations in the luxury Sports Activity Vehicle segment once again.
