How to Draw a Nissan 240SX – Step by Step Tutorial

The Nissan 240SX is a legendary Japanese sports car, loved by car enthusiasts and tuners around the world. Its sharp lines, pop-up headlights, and racing style make it a favorite among drift fans. In this tutorial, you will learn how to draw the Nissan 240SX step by step. Take your time with each stage, and don’t be afraid to sketch lightly at first—details come later!

Step 1. Outline the Front and Wheel Arch

Start by drawing the basic shape of the car’s front bumper and the front wheel arch. Use smooth curved lines to show where the wheel will go and a longer line for the bottom of the bumper. Keep your lines light, since this is just the foundation of the drawing.

Step 2. Sketch the Body Shape and Rear Wheel

Now, extend the outline backwards to form the side of the car. Add the roofline that curves gently towards the back, and then sketch the rear wheel arch. At this stage, you should already see the silhouette of the coupe taking form.

Step 3. Add the Basic Headlights and Spoiler

Draw the car’s signature pop-up headlights on the front—two square shapes sitting slightly above the hood. At the back, add the rear wing spoiler, which gives the Nissan 240SX its racing look. This step makes the sketch instantly recognizable.

Step 4. Draw the Windows and Doors

Outline the windshield, side windows, and door. Add the A-pillar and roof structure to connect everything together. Keep the proportions balanced: the windows should not be too tall or too flat. Add a simple line for the door handle.

Step 5. Work on the Hood and Side Details

Draw lines on the hood to show the air vents and racing details. Then add the side skirts under the door area. At this stage, the Nissan 240SX begins to look much sportier and more aggressive.

Step 6. Sketch the Wheels and Front Bumper Details

Draw the front wheel as a large circle and start outlining the rim design. Add depth by making the tire slightly thicker. Then move to the front bumper: sketch the air intake and lights, making sure they align properly with the body shape.

Step 7. Refine the Rims and Extra Details

Inside the wheel, carefully draw the rim spokes to give it a realistic racing design. Add more lines to the bumper and side panels to show the sharp angles of the car. This step requires patience, but it will make your drawing come alive.

Step 8. Finalize the Drawing

Go over your entire sketch with darker, cleaner lines. Erase any unnecessary guidelines. Shade the windows, add depth to the rims, and darken the pop-up headlights. Finish with details like reflections on the hood and shadows under the car. Now you have a completed drawing of the Nissan 240SX!
